SCENE 2: STARGAZING & DREAMS
The night sky stretched above them, painted in deep shades of indigo and scattered with countless stars. Nero and Yelena lay on the rooftop of his apartment, a thin blanket spread beneath them. The city hummed quietly in the distance, but up here, it felt like they were in their own little world.
Yelena pointed at a bright star. “That one—do you know what it’s called?”
Nero smirked. “You’re asking me? The guy who spends all his time with wires and circuits?”
She giggled. “Fine, I’ll tell you. That’s Vega. One of the brightest stars in the sky.”
Nero turned his head to look at her, watching how her eyes reflected the stars above. “You like things like this, huh?”
“I love them,” she admitted, sighing softly. “Stars, the universe, the idea that we’re just… a tiny part of something so vast. It makes me wonder if anything we do really matters.”
Nero thought for a moment before replying, “It matters to the people we love.”
Yelena glanced at him, surprised by the softness in his voice. “That was unexpectedly deep.”
“I have my moments,” he teased, but his gaze was serious. “You matter to me.”
A warm silence settled between them. Yelena turned on her side, resting her head on her arm. “Do you ever think about the future?”
Nero shrugged. “Sometimes.”
“What do you see?”
He hesitated, then said, “I don’t know. But I do know one thing—I want you to be in it.”
Yelena’s heart skipped a beat. She reached for his hand, lacing her fingers through his. “Then promise me something.”
“Anything.”
“No matter what happens, even if things change, even if the world turns upside down… don’t forget me.”
Nero squeezed her hand gently. “That’s an easy promise.”
He didn’t realize it then, but some promises
are harder to keep than they seem.
